Sooo this weekend was amazing. We went to the mountains for our weekend excursion and had this entire lil hotel to ourselves. It so tranquil and peaceful up there a complete 360 from the city. It was relaxing and was such a tease cuz I really didn't want to leave and I don 't think anybody else did either. The owner Alexis was so excited about his menu everyday. He made the stay that much better. It had a pool, hot tub, sauna and just so much open space it was wonderful. The first day when we got there was just really a chill day and I was excited cuz I got to riding, but it wasn't a serious ride cuz it was in a western saddle and the horses really weren't trained but whatever we still had a good time. That night we just all hung out had a good time and played some spades. It's nice during the day but at night it can get a bit chilly.
Day 2. This is where it gets interesting. So this is the day of the hike. I was told that it was gonna be like an easy 2-3hr hike nothing serious you know.....WRONG WRONG WRONG....i thought I really wasn't gonna make it up that mountain....it was a straight incline bascially with loose rock so uneven footing...plus it was hot and all i could think was please dont let my asthma come back right now...but mom you'd be proud i made it up to the top and ill be putting up pics to prove it...that was quite an accomplishment lemme tell u...after that ii got in the pool for a bit.
Then a few of us went to the serpenteria anf i held 2 snakes(there will be picks to prove this as well lol)....after that I went riding again but it wasn't as fun as the first day probably cuz there was a lot more people and the dad wouldn't let me ride like i wanted to but whatever. I wrapped up the day with more cards and learned how to play rummy(i dont know how to spell it)
Day 3. Unfortunately we had to come back today. A few of us decided that we wanted to go to the hot springs and check it out. All i can say is good thing we didn't walk because I would've been pissed. It wasn't what i thought it was going to be at all...there was just concrete walls everywhere i thought it was going to be more natural....so the owner(cuz he drove us there) took us for a lil ride and showed us some things it was fun....afterwards we got back and i finally got the hot water to work...so excited bout that!!! and i just chilled by the pool for the rest of the day and did some work.
After leaving the hotel we went into the town a bit and did some shopping youll have to wait and see those...well thats all for today now i gotta do hw and get ready for my first day of teaching

Tuesday
Today didn't really do too much. I tried yuca, it's a type of fruit, for breakfast. Isabel made it by frying it in oil. It kinda reminds me of home made french fries you know with the texture and everything but it was good. I liked it. Then I had 4 hours of classes that was fun. OHH and I didn't get sick from the cafeteria food today. YAY!!! I gues I'm getting adjusted now. After school my brother took me to get some ice cream and we just talked for awhile which was nice. Now I'm just trying to do the readings for tomorrow nothing special. Tomorrow we go to the museum in the morning and then classes.

Back tracking
me @ the continental divide

Heyy mom~
Ok so this first post is just for you...I'm backtracking a day to tell you about the Panama Canal. So I had to wake up muy temprano(very early) to get to the school for an 8am departure. Ya not so fun i guess it's a good thing i stayed in. Guess my stomach got something rite...anyways so we get to the canal and then have to take this lil tour bus thingy on a 40min ride all the way to the other side so I tried to catch some sleep that way. Get there and we get on this boat thats supposed to take us through the canal its called th Pacific Queen...we get served lunch yadayada right...but you'll never guess who i saw...I don't know if you rememeber her, but Sawyer Kimball we used to go to school together and I see her on the boat with her school. I mean what are the chances that we'd see each other all the way in Panama right. It makes the world seem that much smaller.
And you know how I have my INROADS bag with me, well this other kid on the boat was like "Oh you're in INROADS. I'm applying and from Mass." I mean how strange is that 2 ppl just like that amazing lol.
Ok so bac to the Canal...it was interesting because they we talking bout how everything was done by hand and how they dammed the river to make this artificial lake that we were riding through. How the Canal is only one way @ a time from 5am-12am its Northbound traffic and 12-5p its southbound traffic and when u actually get into the canal there's only 2 feet of space on either side of these huge boats. Heres a lil video of one of the boats
So the only reason that we were allowed to be in the "cut"as they call was because we were such a small ship that we didn't pose any danger. Oh and they don't allow any travel at night because its too dangerous.. but to travel through the canal companys pay thousands of dollars and they have to have a canal pilot on board.
Shai and I got a pic on the boat I'll show you when i get home and I got grandpa a Panama Canal hat. The trip through the canal took about 4 hrs more or less to keep through...And we went through a system of lockes that gradually brought us down to level.
